Best Books for Beginners – Buddhism
There are thousands of books on Buddhism which can easily be overwhelming for newcomers or even people well versed that just need to get grounded.
Here are some of my favorite books I’ve come across and some of the best free works you can find. All of these books will always be free and open for distribution. I hope they find you well.
The Gift of Dhamma excels all other gifts.
The Buddha
With Each and Every Breath
A wonderful meditation guide from Ajaan Geoff from Wat Metta. A must read for beginners and advanced meditators. Less focus on Buddhism and more on practice.
Noble Strategy
Another great piece of work from Ajaan Geoff. Touches on some of the core concepts of Buddhism.
The Dhammapada
A translation from Ajaan Geoff from potentially one of the most impactful sections in The Pali Canon.
What The Buddha Taught
An all time classic from Walpola Rahula. Covers all the bases.
Forest Dhamma
Arguably one of Ajaan Maha Boowa’s most impactful pieces of work.
Uncommon Wisdom
An incredible story from one of the most revered Thai Forest Ajaans. The book is split into a biography and a series of Dhamma Talks.
The Pali Canon
If you’re interested in focusing more on Buddhist Scripture and reading more about The Buddha’s own words click this link and you can read/download it’s entirety.
